Our Public Power: The Next Generation

Calling all TEDx participants! We have a chance to be part of a connecting-the-dots effort with the power to shape the future of our community. Chelan County PUD is hosting an event to gather ideas for the future of the PUD in context of the future of the county. Why? Because the PUD Commissioners and Management are at a pivotal moment. The decisions they make now could shape the future of the whole county for a generation, and they want to give residents a chance to influence their own future.

This event will launch a community conversation called Our Public Power: The Next Generation. This could be the biggest moment to think about investing in the future of Chelan County since the decision to build the dams more than half a century ago. Please join us to learn why, and how you can be involved in this moment. This is our kind of conversation! It’s a courageous move and one that deserves our support. Please join us at the Performing Arts Center in Wenatchee on Wednesday the 11th from 5:30 to 6:30!

The Program:

  • Introduction and News from TEDx Committee
  • Talk with New Chelan PUD General Manager Steve Wright
  • Thoughts from Community Leaders
  • Group Idea Session with Colin Brine

What to Bring:

  • Bring your ideas for the future of Chelan County—especially in these six areas: parks and recreation, water (and wastewater), fiber and telecommunications, electrification, economic development, and reinvestment in Chelan PUD as an asset.
  • Bring your family, colleagues and neighbors. This is a great opportunity to invest in our community’s cultureof investment. We have seating for 400, so let’s make this a great event!

Please make time on your calendar to join us for this important conversation—Wednesday June 11th at 5:30 at the PAC!

What is TEDx?

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxWenatcheeValley, where x = independently organized TED event. At our TEDxWenatcheeValley event, TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized.

Connecting the Dots

Wenatchee Valley's Connecting the Dots TEDxWenatcheeValley event is intended to energize leaders to think more creatively about the possibilities for our future. We see enthusiasm to make this valley extraordinary. We want to add traction to this momentum by leveraging our strengths and connecting ideas. We have a unique opportunity to work together in building a more resilient valley for the benefit of future generations.
